Prices show in Australian dollars\, but through Paypal\, payments will receive ZAR and convert it appropriately.) https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/weaving-is-healing-cape-town-hout-bay-16-april-2023-tickets-588139399777 \n\nOn the 16th April\, we will learn the meditative coil weaving technique. \nThe workshop will be facilitated through means of a ceremonial space where you will be nurtured and held safely in a circle of like-minded beings\, sharing and breathing and creating together. We are invited into a space of conscious creation\, whilst honouring both the individual and the group dynamic. Trauma informed\, please let me know by private communication if you would like your circumstances to be known\, and gently held. \nBeginners are celebrated. \nThis is an opportunity to experience the ancient art of basket weaving as a deeply mindful and contemplative practice. It is a space of sharing\, creating\, being and breathing\, conducted through ceremony and celebration of life. Using natural materials from the land\, you will learn to weave individual strands of fibre together to form a whole creation\, while recognising and acknowledging the mirrors and metaphors that bind us together with nature and each other. Like a weave within a weave\, this has the power of revealing a way of being that is nurturing\, growthful\, enlightening and honouring of the energy of creation. Together we will weave baskets that hold in their fibres all of the stories we share\, flowing in symphony with the songs of nature as they unfold around and within us.  \nWe will use hand dyed raffia\, with dyes from nature: colours sourced in the traditional Indigenous lands of Northern Australia\, as well as other local fibres. \nThere is also the option (for additional fee) to use pandanus spiralus\, a premium and delicate yet strong and waxy fibre found only in Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia. This fibre is sourced by René Bahloo\, your facilitator\, who nurtures intimate ties to the people and culture of Arnhem Land\, and regularly travels there for reconnection to her adopted First Nations aboriginal family and to facilitate cultural tours with weavers and healers of that magnificent place.  \nApril 16 – Raffia fibre – coiling technique (using a needle). R1100 (R200 extra if you would like to use rare pandanus fibre). \nPlease bring a low chair\, cushion or blanket to sit on\, and vegetarian savoury lunch to share.  \nTickets can be booked online (plus booking fee).
