SUMMARY:Weaving is Healing Two-day workshop Bribie Island July 13-14
DESCRIPTION:A two-day basketry workshop\, ceremony and healing experience\, also available for single day attendance. Random weave and string bag making. \nThe two sessions comprise of a random weave with palm inflorescence on the first day and a string technique basket making workshop on the second. They are available as single day workshops but are best done together\, and are perfect for beginners as well as advanced weavers. \nPlease note that this is not an Indigenous workshop or a technique indigenous to Australia\, but a workshop that embraces creativity\, ceremony as well as community to promote healing processes in an organic and soulful manner. \nThis is a opportunity to join René Bahloo from Weavery\, to sit and weave together in circle. It’s much more than a skill-building\, tuition-based workshop; it is a space where wisdom is shared\, experienced and breathed together as the workshop unfolds itself\, wrapped with the fibre of life as well as the fibre of nature\, and deep human connection. \nYou will learn to create a basket with your choice of pandanus spiralus fibre\, (a strong\, waxy and colourful fibre sourced ethically from weavers in Arnhem Land)\, local fibres\, as well as raffia and cordyline\, while immersing in deep connection to story\, land\, nature and to life. \n10.30am till 3.30 pm. $120 pp. per day and $220 for both days. \nThe workshop will be facilitated through means of a ceremonial space where you will be nurtured and held safely in a circle of like-minded beings\, sharing and breathing and creating together. \nThis is an opportunity to experience the ancient art of basket weaving as a deeply mindful and contemplative practice. It is a space of sharing\, creating\, being and breathing\, conducted through ceremony and celebration of life. Using natural materials from the land\, you will learn to weave individual strands of fibre together to form a whole creation\, while recognising and acknowledging the mirrors and metaphors that bind us together with nature and each other. \nLike a weave within a weave\, this has the power of revealing a way of being that is nurturing\, growthful\, enlightening and honouring of the energy of creation. Together we will weave baskets that hold in their fibres all of the stories we share\, flowing in symphony with the songs of nature as they unfold around and within us. \nAll materials will be provided. Special pandanus fibre will be available to buy on the day\, if needed for future weaving projects or expansion of a current one\, but will not be used in these workshops. \nPlease bring a chair\, cushion or mat to sit on\, and something savoury to share for lunch. \nTickets can be booked online or by emailing to organise a direct deposit / cash. (direct deposit bypasses the eventbrite fee). \nweaverywork@gmail.com \n(0438)162552

SUMMARY:Weaving is Healing Sunshine Coast may 25
DESCRIPTION:Weave with naturally dyed pandanus – in a ceremony-style immersive sharing and healing circle.\nTwist weave technique \nIt is a space to learn to weave a basket\, as well as to share and celebrate our humanness and fibre together\, as we weave ourselves together in loving connection. \n10.30am till 3.30 pm. $120 pp \nThe workshop will be facilitated through means of a ceremonial space where you will be nurtured and held safely in a circle of like-minded beings\, sharing and breathing and creating together. \nThis is an opportunity to experience the ancient art of basket weaving as a deeply mindful and contemplative practice. It is a space of sharing\, creating\, being and breathing\, conducted through ceremony and celebration of life. Through her lifelong interest and pursuit of knowledge that draws us in closer relationship to our soul and subsequent experience of aliveness\, René walks with a philosophical and practical understanding that speaks to the magic (and music) of the weave of life\, available in each present moment. This is a magic that is often hidden by our perceptual filters\, yet it exists regardless\, and is a deep source of freedom\, joy and healing waiting to be recognised and consciously engaged with\, like a beloved friend. René facilitates workshops and spaces where she weaves with the fibre of these strands of knowledge and wisdom in a way that is multidimensional\, in honour of the fractal patterning of the creative universe. Her work is also very practical and down-to-earth\, using plant materials and basket weaving techniques to illustrate and enhance understandings of spiritual concepts which in turn promote connection and open-heartedness amongst participants\, in a fun and lighthearted\, yet profound manner. René’s background as a qualified visual artist and psychotherapist\, as well as her extensive life experience with (and deep ongoing connection to) Indigenous shamanic/earth-honouring families and cultures\, enhances her intellectual\, creative and spiritual capacity to speak eloquently to this interconnected weave of life. René brings you a gift: a direct demonstration and embodiment of the experience of her own aliveness\, and beautiful fallible humanness\, through radical honesty as well as authenticity to the moment\, and inspires us to remember\, to love and to honour all parts of our soul expression in the world\, no matter how they show up\, in the spirit of ‘already being whole’. \nPlease bring a chair\, cushion or mat to sit on\, and something savoury to share for lunch. \nTickets can be booked online or by emailing to organise a direct deposit / cash. It’s much more than a skill-building\, tuition-based workshop; it is a space where wisdom is shared\, experienced and breathed together as the workshop unfolds itself\, wrapped with the fibre of life as well as the fibre of nature\, and deep human connection. \nYou will learn to create a small basket with pandanus fibre from Arnhem Land while immersing in deep connection to community\, story\, land\, nature and to life. \nIt will be a deeply nourishing experience of connection and grounding. Perfect for those wanting to sit in a deeply held circle where you are free to be just who you are\, and weave the threads of your life together that are wanting to be heard\, and honoured… all the while\, weaving a basketling with naturally dyed fibre that originates from Arnhem Land and its weavers. \nThis is not an Indigenous workshop or a technique indigenous to Australia\, but a workshop that embraces creativity\, ceremony as well as community to promote healing processes in an organic and soulful manner. \nBio René Bahloo 2024 \nRené Bahloo is a creator and facilitator of ceremonial spaces that are rooted in the healing power and wisdom held within the ancient art of fibre weaving.

SUMMARY:Weaving is Healing Retreat to K'Gari Frazer Island 21-25 October 2022
DESCRIPTION:A journey like no other! Five days of weaving with natural fibres\, in the company of like-minded women. Five days – adventure\, fibre spotting\, dingo whispering\, creek dipping and trekking to remote and pristine sites. Me\, René Bahloo of Weavery at the helm\, in my beloved Beasty Babe the troopie-mobile. Laughter\, irreverence and joy… and silence\, as we dive deep into the stillness of being\, together. Meditative and contemplative practices of inner noticing\, teamed with nature as teacher at her finest\, to encourage and support healing\, while being deeply nurtured in circle with others. And time for yourself\, to settle back into your core truth. \nYes\, sounds great Rene\, but what weaving will we learn? \nWe will use special pandanus fibre from Arnhem Land to weave a larger piece (basket or sculpture) not possible during a one-day workshop. \nWe will learn two techniques which we can incorporate into the one piece. \nWe will investigate the local flora as we traverse the island together\, and I will identify the fibres available for use as weaving materials. Of course we will leave them in their local space while we use what I have brought onto the island myself (honouring the island’s heritage). \nI will bring along some natural dye plant matter for my dye pots and we will have great fun dyeing undyed fibre\, which we can also use in our baskets if we so choose. \nThanks. And how else will we spend our time on K’gari? \nWell\, this is really cool. We will go adventuring in Beasty Babe\, to the lakes and ocean creeks that make Frazer Island K’Gari so exceptional. Yes\, swimming if the weather is appropriate (bring your floaties\, folks!) Shipwreck-spotting\, whales and dolphins too\, who knows what we might notice. But our adventuring does not stop with the external experience\, we go deep within\, too. We will spend time in counsel together\, in sharing\, circle time. We spend time in nature\, with invitations to eco-therapy exercises and practices that can open up a way for our deep communication with our soul-selves\, within the natural world\, in peaceful yet growthful solitude. But remember\, as much as there are juicy and deep treats in store for you (more than I can write here) you have ultimate say about how you choose to spend your time. Just sitting on the beach\, weaving. Always weaving. Wind tickling your hair\, sun caressing your face. Sound good? \nSweet. So\, what kind of accommodation have you got planned for us? \nWe have secured space in a really cool eco-style accommodation\, with a big shared bunker room for all participants. There is a camp kitchen for any cooking needs as well as being within walking distance to a restaurant and resort with all the frills. We will provide for breakfasts and two dinner meals.  \nIf anyone wants their extra snazzy-style own room\, at their own cost\, I am happy to enquire as to what’s available. Keep in mind\, the more notice\, the better your chances of getting it\, though! \nHow big will the group be? \nSpots will be kept to a minimum. This means that I have place for six humans on this adventure as we carve our way into the flow of a slower way of being\, gently allowing the experience of present moment awareness\, to unfold in grace\, together. \nIf this feels good to you\, please make contact.  \nWhat else to bring? You!!! An open heart\, swimmers (remember floaties for Eli creek) and a pair of binoculars maybe. A camera! Not much internet reception on the island though\, so your phone’s social media posts will be on hold. \nA willingness to learn and have fun. A curiosity about life\, and what else is possible in this amazing experience of aliveness. \nOctober 21-25 2022\, Frazer Island (K’Gari). Includes the ferry trip both ways: we leave from Rainbow Beach where you can leave your vehicle. Pickups on the Sunshine Coast can be arranged. \n$990 per person\, secured through a non-refundable (transferable) deposit of $300\, or payment in full. Final payment due one calendar month before the trip starts. \nIf you have any questions\, call me at 0438162552. Or email – weaverywork@gmail.com
