SUMMARY:Weaving is Healing Sunshine Coast 11 August 2024
DESCRIPTION:This will be a space to learn to weave a basket with palm inflorescence\, as well as to share and celebrate our humanness and fibre together\, as we weave ourselves together in loving connection. \n10.30am till 3.30 pm. $120 pp \nThe workshop will be facilitated through means of a ceremonial space where you will be nurtured and held safely in a circle of like-minded beings\, sharing and breathing and creating together. \nThis is an opportunity to experience the ancient art of basket weaving as a deeply mindful and contemplative practice. It is a space of sharing\, creating\, being and breathing\, conducted through ceremony and celebration of life. Using natural materials from the land\, you will learn to weave individual strands of fibre together to form a whole creation\, while recognising and acknowledging the mirrors and metaphors that bind us together with nature and each other. \nLike a weave within a weave\, this has the power of revealing a way of being that is nurturing\, growthful\, enlightening and honouring of the energy of creation. Together we will weave baskets that hold in their fibres all of the stories we share\, flowing in symphony with the songs of nature as they unfold around and within us. \nExtra pandanus fibre will be available to buy on the day\, if needed for future weaving projects or expansion of your current one. \nBio: \nRené Bahloo is a creator and facilitator of ceremonial spaces that are rooted in the healing power and wisdom held within the ancient art of fibre weaving. Through her lifelong interest and pursuit of knowledge that draws us in closer relationship to our soul and subsequent experience of aliveness\, René walks with a philosophical and practical understanding that speaks to the magic (and music) of the weave of life\, available in each present moment. This is a magic that is often hidden by our perceptual filters\, yet it exists regardless\, and is a deep source of freedom\, joy and healing waiting to be recognised and consciously engaged with\, like a beloved friend. René facilitates workshops and spaces where she weaves with the fibre of these strands of knowledge and wisdom in a way that is multidimensional\, in honour of the fractal patterning of the creative universe. Her work is also very practical and down-to-earth\, using plant materials and basket weaving techniques to illustrate and enhance understandings of spiritual concepts which in turn promote connection and open-heartedness amongst participants\, in a fun and lighthearted\, yet profound manner. René’s background as a qualified visual artist and psychotherapist\, as well as her extensive life experience with (and deep ongoing connection to) Indigenous shamanic/earth-honouring families and cultures\, enhances her intellectual\, creative and spiritual capacity to speak eloquently to this interconnected weave of life. René brings you a gift: a direct demonstration and embodiment of the experience of her own aliveness\, and beautiful fallible humanness\, through radical honesty as well as authenticity to the moment\, and inspires us to remember\, to love and to honour all parts of our soul expression in the world\, no matter how they show up\, in the spirit of ‘already being whole’. \nPlease something savoury to share for lunch. \nTickets can be booked online or by emailing to organise a direct deposit / cash. (direct deposit bypasses the eventbrite fee). \nRené Bahloo \nweaverywork@gmail.com \n(0438)162552

SUMMARY:Weaving is healing Brisbane February 2023
DESCRIPTION:We will create a medicine basket by weaving with pandanus spiralus (from Arnhem Land) in a spiral coiling technique. Learn about harvesting\, preparing and storing fibre. \nThe workshop will be facilitated through means of a ceremonial space where you will be nurtured and held safely in a circle of like-minded beings\, sharing and breathing and creating together. Trauma informed\, please let me know by private communication if you would like your circumstances to be known\, and gently held. \nBeginners are celebrated. Like a weave within a weave\, this has the power of revealing a way of being that is nurturing\, growthful\, enlightening and honouring of the energy of creation. Together we will weave baskets that hold in their fibres all of the stories we share\, flowing in symphony with the songs of nature as they unfold around and within us. \nThis is one of a series of three workshops. Three days\, three different techniques and fibres. Workshops can be attended individually\, or can be booked as a duo or trio. (Discounts apply for multiple day bookings). \nJan 14 – lomandra and cordyline double strand twist weave \nFeb 18 – pandanus coiling \nMay 6 – single strand loop and twist weave with natural fibres \nPlease bring a low chair\, cushion or blanket to sit on\, and vegetarian savoury lunch to share. \nTickets can be booked online (includes booking fee) or by emailing me to organise a direct deposit (no booking fees). \nweaverywork@gmail.com \n0438162552

SUMMARY:Weaving is Healing Weekend Sunshine Coast February 11-12\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:In this weekend\, we will create a beautiful medicine piece by weaving with cordyline and/or pandanus spiralus (a unique premium weaving fibre from Arnhem Land) in a twining technique\, including stringmaking. I will also teach you how to make a coiled lid for your basket (or you can make a separate coiled basketling if you prefer). We will also play with my natural plant dyes\, dyebaths and ironwater to make leaf- and fibre prints inbetween the weaving process. \nIt’s best to attend both days as they build on each other\, however\, single day options will be available for those who cannot make both days. \nDay 1 is for the twist weave technique only\, and ends at 3pm. For all other participants\, the day ends at 5pm. We will wrap our dye plants into the cloth.  \nDay 2 begins with a coiling technique instruction\, and making string. We will boil the eco-print bundles in the dye pots\, and unwrap them to see our masterpieces. \nThis is an opportunity to experience the ancient art of basket weaving as a deeply mindful and contemplative practice.
